The Helpmann Awards are Australia’s premier national Awards for the live performance industry. The Awards were established in 2001 and are named after the iconic Australian performer Sir Robert Helpmann.
In early 2014 Digital Bridge was engaged by Live Performance Australia (LPA) to complete and manage the website for the Helpmann Awards.
Through the website, LPA members can sign in to:
- Submit a travel fund application
- Register 5 Helpmann Awards voter representatives
- Submit Helpmann Award entries
- Cast votes for each Award category
In the lead-up to the awards, category panel members were able to use the website to download entry information prior to nominee selection, and were able to request funding to see a production prior to voting.
After nominees were announced on the site in July, the online voting system was activated, allowing almost 500 voters to cast thousands of votes in total.
The entire nomination and voting process was conducted via the website for the 2014 Awards. Votes were reviewed by an independent auditor.
2014 was the first year submission of entries, nominee selection and announcements, and voting was conducted entirely online.
The switch to running the Helpmann Awards online was welcomed with enthusiasm by the LPA community and a number of upgrades are in progress in preparation for the 2015 Awards.
As a thank you, LPA invited our team as guests to the awards ceremony, which was held on August 18th at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre.
