Sticky is an Australian rock candy company run by a passionate husband and wife duo. Their shop is nestled in Sydney's famous historical district, The Rocks. Background
Sticky first approached Digital Bridge when they were looking for a developer to help manage their website, which had been built by a different agency in WordPress and Magento. The owners and staff at Sticky had found it near impossible to update their website due to a cumbersome admin area and plugins that needed regular updating, jeopardising the stability of the site.
By 2018, Sticky was ready to rebuild their site from scratch.
Methods
Managing the old Sticky website meant that we got to know the owners and their business model long before it came time to discuss the new website. This background knowledge helped us more easily undestand the goals for the new website.
Top priority was to build a robust ecommerce store that provided a seamless buying experience, with an admin area that was easy for Sticky to manage themselves. The owners also had a vision of a “build your own candy” wizard, or “avatar”, which would allow users to assemble their own candy onscreen and see what that candy would look like before they submitted their order. This process had to be fun, yet accurate, allowing website users to play with text and images, select colours and flavours, and determine how they wanted the candy to be packaged.
Aesthetically, the website was also due for a design refresh to better reflect Sticky’s distinct business brand, improve user experience, and bring it in line with current web design trends. We focused on making the user experience easy and intuitive on any device, highlighting where to buy candy, how to build your own candy, and encourage direct enquiries to Sticky.
We used the popular Laravel PHP platform to develop the ecommerce website and integrated the existing eWAY payment gateway. A neat, clean and stable content management system (CMS) was created to allow for easy updates of anything ranging from product categories, prices, product images and descriptions; to uploading new banners and blogs. The CMS also allowed application of promotions and discounts, management of customer details and customer orders, and output of customer and sales reports, making the website a valuable business tool.
Results
Launched in late 2018, the new Sticky ecommerce website is deluxe, colourful and fun... just like the candy it sells.
The eye-catching site boasts great user experience, making it easy for customers to buy candy online, generating new sales for the business. The “Candy Design Tool” has been very popular and engaging for website visitors, capturing new leads for custom candy orders.
At the end of the day, we were able to create a fully-customised website with a powerful CMS that gave back the owners control of their onilne sales, helping them further grow their bustling business.
